Illa Fantasia sits above the Maresme coast, roughly halfway between Barcelona and Mataró, and draws families from across Catalonia for a full open-air day of slides, a wave pool and a lazy river. Most visitors don't sleep inside the park itself: they base themselves in the coastal towns of Mataró, Vilassar de Mar or Premià de Mar, or inland around Granollers and the Vallès, and drive or taxi in for the day. That gives you two real strategic choices. Stay on the coast and you get Rodalies trains into Barcelona plus a beach for the evening after the slides close; stay inland near Granollers or the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and you're closer to the park gates but further from the sea. Either way, Illa Fantasia is a summer-season, open-air park, so a heated or covered pool at your hotel is what saves a cooler morning or a changeable Catalan spring evening, not the park's own water.
