Gasthoeve Het Valkennest
A fifteenth-century farmhouse near Thermae 2000
Su questo hotel
Gasthoeve Het Valkennest occupies a genuine fifteenth-century farmhouse two minutes' walk from Oud Valkenburg and five minutes from Brasserie Kasteel Schaloen, with the Thermae 2000 spa a nine-minute taxi ride away for a wellness day beyond Mosaqua itself. Free breakfast, free Wi-Fi and free parking are included in a low-key, smoke-free stay that leans on the building's own history rather than added facilities. Its 8.2 rating across 168 reviews reflects a smaller, quieter property than the bigger hotels on this list, with a restaurant and terrace on site for evenings spent close to the farmhouse rather than out in the villages. The Oud Valkenburg setting keeps the property closer to Valkenburg's attractions than the Gulpen-centred stays elsewhere on this list, worth weighing for a mixed-activity trip.

Il nostro parere
This suits a family or couple drawn to genuine historic character, a real fifteenth-century farmhouse, rather than a modern hotel build, and happy with a quieter, lower-facility stay. The proximity to Thermae 2000 is a real plus for a spa day beyond Mosaqua. Families wanting more amenities on site should compare against the bigger, better-facilitied hotels elsewhere on this list.
- ✓Book Thermae 2000 ahead for a spa day, since it's a short taxi ride and a genuine draw beyond the farmhouse itself.
- ✓Try the on-site terrace for at least one breakfast, taking advantage of the farmhouse setting rather than eating indoors every day.
- ✓Walk to Brasserie Kasteel Schaloen for dinner at least once, a five-minute stroll from the property.

Perché piace ai viaggiatoriThe farmhouse itself was the highlight, low ceilings and thick walls that made it obvious this wasn't a modern build. We used the terrace for breakfast most mornings and made the short taxi trip to Thermae 2000 on the one day we skipped Mosaqua entirely. Brasserie Kasteel Schaloen, a five-minute walk, gave us a proper dinner out without needing the car again that evening.
