Over dit hotel

Maltsters sits in Llandaff village on the north-western edge of Cardiff, a refurbished inn that could be one of the oldest licensed pubs in the city, with a building on the site since 1310. Bedrooms are individually styled with a bath and rain shower, and the pub downstairs serves a range of Real Ales alongside classic pub food, useful for an easy dinner without venturing back into central Cardiff after a pool day. Llandaff Cathedral is a two-minute walk away, giving the village a genuinely different character from the busier streets around Cardiff Castle. Breakfast isn't included in the room price but is available through the pub, and central Cardiff sits about two miles further on.

  • Historic Llandaff village inn
  • Bath and rain shower rooms
  • On-site pub with Real Ales

Onze mening

Maltsters suits a family who wants a village pub atmosphere and doesn't mind trading proximity to the centre for a quieter, more historic setting in Llandaff. The individually styled rooms give it more character than a standard chain hotel, though families needing a dedicated family suite or breakfast included should check those details before booking. It works well for a shorter stay where the pub itself is part of the appeal.

  • Book breakfast through the pub in advance rather than assuming it's included in the room rate.
  • Allow for the two-mile distance into central Cardiff when planning pool days, whether by taxi or car.
  • Ask about room configuration if travelling with more than two people, since styling varies between individual rooms.

Waarom we het geweldig vinden

  • Individually styled bedrooms
  • Bath and rain shower in rooms
  • Real Ales and pub food downstairs
  • Two-minute walk to Llandaff Cathedral
Waarom gasten er dol op zijn

We stayed two nights and the pub food downstairs meant we didn't have to go anywhere after a long day at the pool, which the kids appreciated as much as we did. Llandaff Cathedral was a nice short walk the next morning before we drove into the centre. The two-mile distance to the centre was a bit of a trade-off, but the quiet village setting made evenings easier with tired kids in tow.
