Mauna Village trades the resort's indoor pool wings for an outdoor, glamping-style stay on a separate prairie site, reached from the main water park building by shuttle bus rather than a covered walkway. Thirteen Hawaiian Tents draw their design from hula dancer costumes, Hawaiian Large Tents add an onion-shaped structure with four beds for bigger families, ASOBI Tents come with a wooden deck and a children's bouldering wall for outdoor play beyond the pools, and Wood Cottages offer air conditioning and a private bathroom for guests who want glamping without giving up hotel-style comfort. A bonfire area, Village Park with badminton and swings, and s'mores-making round out an evening programme built around the outdoors rather than another round of the pools. Guests still reach the resort's shared hot-spring halls by shuttle, so the onsen side of the stay is available, just not on foot.

Mauna Village suits a family that wants the water park by day and a genuinely outdoor, campfire-and-stargazing evening rather than another indoor hotel floor, and the ASOBI Tents' bouldering wall gives older kids something physical to do beyond the pools. It suits this less well for a family prioritising minimal walking between room and water park, since every trip to the pools or the shared baths runs through the shuttle rather than a hallway, which is a real constraint with a napping toddler.
