About this hotel

Hotel Escuela Santa Cruz sits in the centre of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, combining modern and traditional Canarian elements such as a central patio, with the hotel around 2.3 kilometres from the beach. The hotel features free WiFi, a seasonal outdoor pool and sun terrace, plus a panoramic terrace with views of the city. A top-class gastrobar serves varied cuisine across two terraces, one with ocean views, a reference point for demanding palates among Santa Cruz's dining options. Air-conditioned bedrooms are filled with natural light and feature satellite TV and a minibar, with bathrooms including free toiletries and a hairdryer. Families visiting the seawater pools of Parque Marítimo César Manrique have a short ride from here, with the hotel's own seasonal pool offering a calmer swim option on days the group wants a change from the lido.

Our take

Hotel Escuela Santa Cruz suits a family wanting a traditional Canarian atmosphere alongside modern comforts, with a seasonal pool of its own and a genuinely well-regarded gastrobar for evening dining. The central patio gives the property a character the more corporate hotels nearby lack, worth the trade-off if the pool is out of season.

  • Book a terrace table at the gastrobar with ocean views for at least one evening meal during your stay.
  • Check the seasonal pool's opening dates ahead of booking if visiting outside the main summer months.
  • Use the panoramic terrace for an evening view over the city once children are settled for the night.

Why we love it

Why guests love it

The central patio gave this stay a character we did not expect from a city hotel, somewhere the children liked to run around before we headed out to the seawater pools each morning. The gastrobar's ocean-view terrace became our choice for at least two evening meals, a proper treat after days spent mostly in swimsuits, and the seasonal pool covered the mornings we skipped the lido altogether.
