A separate annex, Callaghan's, holds 78 Superior rooms of 38 m² for up to four guests. The hotel has direct access to PortAventura Park, about an eight-minute walk according to booking listings, and every stay includes unlimited entry to that park plus one day at Ferrari Land, subject to its calendar. Caribe Aquatic Park is not included, opens only in the warm months and lies a few minutes away by car. On site you have the Grand Hall buffet, the Grand Opera à la carte restaurant, the Gold River Saloon snack bar and the River Bar overlooking the pools, plus a children's pool. Check-in starts at 15:00 and check-out is at 11:00.

Our take
Gold River's direct access to PortAventura Park is the reason to book it, more than its pools. If your trip centres on Caribe Aquatic Park, note that water park entry is not part of the stay and the park is a short drive away, open only in the warm months; what the stay does include is unlimited PortAventura Park and one Ferrari Land day. I would choose it for a family alternating the theme park and the water park over three or four summer days, with children already tall enough for the 1.20 m Rapid Race. Across 11,624 reviews the average is 8.6, a score that has held over a very large sample.
- ✓The official FAQ says PortAventura Park entry covers arrival and departure days, so with check-in only from 15:00 leave your bags at the luggage room (a supplement applies) and go straight through the direct access.

Standard rooms start at 20 m², tight for a family of five with luggage, so I would look closely at the room type and consider Callaghan's, at 38 m² for four guests. Families who want only the water park gain less here, since its entry is separate and it is not on the doorstep.
