About this hotel

The Beach Hotel Weston-super-Mare occupies a Victorian building a six-minute walk from the sand, close enough for a genuine before-breakfast paddle if the tide cooperates. Rooms are warmly decorated rather than uniformly modern, and some offer sea views worth requesting at booking. Free on-site parking removes a common seafront-hotel headache, and the pet-friendly policy suits a family travelling with a dog as easily as one without. A restaurant on site covers dinner, and the smoke-free property keeps things comfortable throughout. The name is not marketing exaggeration here: the beach really is a short, flat walk away, and that proximity is the property's clearest selling point over hotels set further back from the front.

Our take

This suits a family who wants genuine walking-distance beach access and does not mind a Victorian building's older character over a modern chain's uniformity. It will not suit anyone who wants guaranteed sea views in every room — request one at booking rather than assuming. For proximity to the sand with free parking thrown in, it is one of the stronger options in this stretch.

  • Request a sea-view room specifically when booking; not all rooms face the water despite the property's name.
  • Take advantage of free on-site parking if driving down, rather than hunting for a space on Marine Parade.
  • Head to the beach before breakfast on a falling tide, since the short walk makes an early paddle realistic.

  • Pet-friendly rooms available
  • Victorian building with real character
Why guests love it

The six-minute walk to the beach was exactly as advertised, and having the car parked free on site the whole stay took one worry off the list. Our room did not face the sea, which we should have asked about at booking, but the older Victorian building had more character than the newer chain hotels nearby. Bringing the dog along was easy too, and the restaurant downstairs meant we did not need to plan dinner after a long beach afternoon.
