About this hotel

The Pidge Inn keeps its amenities simple but well chosen: an outdoor pool and hot tub for a wind-down after WildWater Adventure, plus loaner bikes and a BBQ area that give older kids and adults something to do beyond the room. Its lakeside setting near the USS Silversides Submarine Museum, a seven-minute walk away, gives a family an easy, walkable stop for the one evening nobody wants to drive anywhere else. Free parking and Wi-Fi keep the basics covered, and kitchens in some rooms mean a family can cook rather than eat out every night of the stay. It is accessible and smoke-free throughout, a straightforward, quieter alternative to the larger chain hotels nearby. Repeat visitors to the Whitehall side of a WildWater Adventure trip tend to book The Pidge Inn again for the same reasons above, rather than trying a different property the next time.

Our take

This suits a smaller group or a couple traveling with one child who wants a hot tub and a walkable non-park activity over a full chain-hotel amenity list. Larger families needing multiple connecting rooms should look toward the bigger Muskegon properties on this list instead. It is a straightforward pick rather than a splashy one, and that consistency is exactly what a tired family wants after a long day of slides.

  • Borrow the loaner bikes for an evening ride along the lakeside after WildWater Adventure closes.
  • Walk to the USS Silversides Submarine Museum on a morning the family wants a break from slides.
  • Use the BBQ area for a low-cost dinner instead of driving to a restaurant after a long park day.

Why we love it

  • BBQ area on site
Why guests love it

We stayed at The Pidge Inn for the loaner bikes as much as the hot tub, and riding along the lakeside after a day at WildWater Adventure became our favorite part of the trip. The short walk to the USS Silversides Submarine Museum filled a rainy morning without needing the car at all. It was not the most polished stay of our Michigan trip, but it did exactly what we needed it to do.
