About this hotel

Mt. Olympus Resorts is unusual among the hotels near the park because it is not near the park at all, it is the park, with the resort's rooms opening directly onto the same grounds as the indoor and outdoor water and theme park. Families reach the pools, slides and rides without a shuttle or a drive, which changes the rhythm of a multi-day trip entirely, from a toddler's rainy-morning indoor pool session to an afternoon on the outdoor coasters once the sun comes out. A bar, restaurant and kitchen facilities in some rooms mean the whole day, swimming, rides and meals, can happen without leaving the property. The resort closes each day on the same fact that opens it: nothing here requires a car.

  • On-site water and theme park
  • Multiple indoor and outdoor pools
  • Restaurant and bar on-site
  • Free parking

Our take

This resort suits families who want a genuine multi-day trip built entirely around one property, from a toddler's shallow pool time to a teenager's ride day, without ever needing the car. It suits multigenerational groups less well if grandparents want quieter surroundings away from a busy on-site crowd, and families chasing a single quiet pool rather than a full theme park should look at a smaller hotel nearby instead.

  • Book well ahead for summer weekends, since on-site rooms at the park itself sell out before nearby hotels do.
  • Ask which pools are indoor versus outdoor at check-in, since outdoor sections close for the season before winter.
  • Request a room with a kitchen if available, since it cuts down on restaurant costs across a multi-night stay.

Why we love it

  • Rooms open directly onto the park itself
  • Both indoor and outdoor water park access
  • Bar and restaurant on the same grounds
  • Kitchen facilities available in some rooms
Why guests love it

Staying literally inside the park meant our first morning started with the indoor pool before the outdoor gates even opened, no car, no shuttle, just an elevator ride down. Our older son spent two full days on the coasters while our toddler stuck to the shallow pools, and having a kitchen in the room saved us from three restaurant dinners across a five-night trip near Wisconsin Dells.
