About this hotel

Novotel Sydney Parramatta puts a family a minute's walk from Prince Alfred Square and Market Street, in the middle of central Parramatta, with an outdoor pool and spa on site alongside a fitness centre and bar/restaurant. It reads as a business hotel that happens to suit families well at weekends, and its central location means Restaurant 317, an Italian spot three minutes away, and the rest of Parramatta's dining strip sit within easy walking distance. The outdoor pool suits the warmer months well, matching Sydney's roughly October-to-April swimming season, though it is less of a year-round guarantee than an indoor alternative. Full-service laundry and a business centre round out a stay built for both the water park trip and any work a parent needs to fit around it.

Our take

Novotel Sydney Parramatta suits a family who wants a central Parramatta address with genuine walkable dining, and who is happy with an outdoor rather than indoor pool. The spa and fitness facilities add real wellness value. Families visiting outside the warmer months, or wanting a guaranteed year-round pool, should consider Rydges Parramatta or the Meriton properties with indoor pools instead.

  • Book during the warmer October-to-April months to get full use of the outdoor pool alongside the spa.
  • Walk to Restaurant 317, three minutes away, for an Italian dinner option beyond the hotel's own restaurant.
  • Use the central Prince Alfred Square location as a base for exploring Parramatta on a rest day from the water park.

Why guests love it

Editorially, the central Parramatta location of Novotel Sydney Parramatta made our rest day easy: a minute to Prince Alfred Square and three minutes to Restaurant 317 for a proper Italian dinner after a long stretch of pool-side food at Raging Waters Sydney. The outdoor pool and spa filled the gap on the one day we skipped the water park, though we would have liked an indoor option on the one cooler evening of our stay.
