About this hotel

Boutique Hotel Melissa sits right on Poreč's main square, just steps from the Adriatic Sea, with the UNESCO-listed Euphrasian Basilica only 250 metres away. Rooms are elegantly decorated, air-conditioned and come with a flat-screen TV, seating area, safe and minibar, and the restaurant's outdoor terrace covers dining without leaving the square itself. Free WiFi runs throughout the property. For a family or couple wanting to be genuinely inside Poreč's most central, walkable spot, with the basilica, the sea and the square's evening life all within a couple of minutes on foot, Melissa's main-square position is difficult to match elsewhere in town. Its position directly on the square also means the hotel functions as a genuine base for exploring Poreč on foot, without needing the car until the next drive out to the park.

Our take

This suits travelers wanting the most central possible Poreč base, prioritising walkability to the basilica, sea and old-town restaurants over a resort pool or spa. It suits fewer travelers wanting a quiet, secluded stay, since the main-square position puts the hotel at the centre of Poreč's evening activity. Book a room away from the square-facing side if evening noise bothers light sleepers, and reserve terrace tables ahead of summer weekends.

  • Book a room away from the square-facing side if evening noise from the plaza bothers light sleepers.
  • Walk to the basilica in the early evening, 250 metres away, before the square's dinner crowds build up.
  • Reserve terrace tables at the restaurant ahead of peak summer weekends, given the central location's popularity.

Why guests love it

Everything about old Poreč was within a couple of minutes of Boutique Hotel Melissa's front door, and after our Istralandia day the walk to the basilica and back along the square, gelato in hand, felt like the reward for the day's queues. The terrace restaurant downstairs meant dinner never required a decision about where to go. It is right in the middle of things, which suited us fine for a trip built around exploring Poreč on the days we skipped the park.
