Hotels in Croatia
Croatia's waterparks sit on the two stretches of Adriatic coast that families already know best, Istria and northern Dalmatia, so slides fit naturally into a beach holiday. Istralandia is the country's biggest waterpark, set in the Istrian countryside between Novigrad and Brtonigla, with long slides, a wave pool and a lazy river for a full day in the water. It has no hotel of its own, so families base themselves in the coastal towns of Poreč, Novigrad and Umag, about a quarter of an hour away by car, and choose between campsite mobile homes, apartments and large family resorts with their own pools. Further south, Dalmaland in Biograd na Moru combines rollercoasters, water rides and shows with a waterpark area, and the Biograd riviera offers hotels and apartments a short drive from the gates, with Zadar and the Kornati islands nearby. Both parks are seasonal and open roughly from June to September, with the longest hours in July and August, when coastal accommodation also fills fastest. Free parking, breakfast and half board are common in the resort hotels.
