Resort Al Castello - Hibou Bistrot
A villa resort with pool, sauna and restaurant near Ondaland
About this hotel
This 16th-century villa is the fullest resort-style option near Ondaland, a 9-minute taxi ride from the park with its own outdoor pool, sauna, fitness centre and restaurant, Hibou Bistrot, on site. It suits families who want a proper sit-down dinner and a pool session after a day of Ondaland's slides, rather than a quick soak before bed. Pet-friendly rooms make it workable for families travelling with a dog, and the free airport shuttle is a genuine convenience for anyone flying into Milan Malpensa without a rental car. Free breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking round out a stay built around comfort more than proximity alone. The golf and business-centre facilities also make it a workable base for a family trip that isn't purely built around the water park.

Our take
A 16th-century villa a nine-minute taxi ride from Ondaland, Resort Al Castello - Hibou Bistrot puts an outdoor pool, a sauna, a fitness centre and its own restaurant under one roof, with free breakfast and parking included. Pets are welcome, and the airport shuttle helps families flying into Malpensa. I would pick it to pair the water park with a proper resort evening; families who want to walk to the gates should look at Vicolungo.
- ✓Book the airport shuttle in advance if flying into Malpensa without a rental car, since it needs to be arranged ahead of arrival.
- ✓Reserve a table at Hibou Bistrot for evenings you'd rather not drive back into Vicolungo for dinner.
- ✓Confirm the pet policy in detail before booking if travelling with a dog, including any size restrictions.
Why we love it

Why guests love itOur dog came with us here, and the villa's outdoor pool and grounds turned out to suit him as well as they suited the kids. Being a 9-minute taxi ride from Ondaland meant our teenager could head to the water park with one parent while the other took the dog for a walk around the grounds, then we'd swap over. It wasn't the closest pet-friendly stay to the park, but the space made up for the extra drive.
