About this hotel

Hilton Garden Inn sits a three-minute walk from the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, with a fitness room, bar and restaurant on site and pet-friendly rooms for families travelling with a dog. It's a relaxed, mid-range hotel rather than a budget one, with streamlined rooms that suit both a family with young kids and one with older teens who might use the fitness room themselves. The dog gets a comfortable room to settle into after a day at Water World, while the humans have a proper restaurant downstairs rather than needing to find dinner elsewhere. Parking and breakfast both cost extra here, worth factoring in alongside the room rate when comparing against the city's other pet-friendly options.

Our take

This suits a family bringing a dog who wants a proper mid-range hotel with a fitness room and restaurant rather than a bare-bones budget stay. It's not the pick if free parking or included breakfast matter more than the Hilton brand and amenities. The restaurant and bar downstairs also mean you're not searching for dinner after a long day of flumes with a tired dog in tow.

  • Confirm the pet fee when booking, pet-friendly rooms here may carry an additional charge beyond the standard rate.
  • Budget separately for both breakfast and parking, neither is included in the base room rate.
  • Book early if travelling with a dog, pet-friendly rooms are a smaller subset of the hotel's total inventory.

Why we love it

  • Short walk to the Potteries Museum
  • Restaurant and bar for an easy evening
Why guests love it

We travelled with our dog and this was one of the few properties nearby with a proper pet policy rather than a vague one. The room was comfortable and the fitness room came in handy on the evening we didn't fancy going out again after a full day of flumes. Breakfast being extra was a bit of an annoyance, but the location made up for it.
