Hotels in Oceans of Fun
Oceans of Fun is the water park of the Worlds of Fun property at 4545 Worlds of Fun Avenue, in Kansas City's Northland off I-435, and every Worlds of Fun ticket or season pass covers both parks on the same day. For the shortest morning drive, I would sleep in the Kansas City Northeast cluster: the Comfort Inn & Suites sits under a mile from the gates, and the Super 8, Holiday Inn, Candlewood Suites and SpringHill Suites are all within 2 km. Liberty, 11 to 15 km to the north-east, has the newer suite hotels with a separate sleeping space, which helps with toddlers on early bedtimes. North Kansas City (about 8 km) and downtown (about 9 miles) only make sense if the trip mixes the park with city days. The water park is open in summer only: the 2026 season started on May 23, and after Labor Day it opens on far fewer days than the theme park, so a September trip starts with the official calendar. One trap catches first-timers: the Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun parking lots are not connected along the outside of the parks, so decide before you drive in which park you start with.
For Oceans of Fun, the closest beds are the chain hotels of Kansas City Northeast, five of them within 2 km of the Worlds of Fun gates, while families who want a suite with a separate bedroom area look at Liberty, 11 to 15 km away. None of the 29 hotels on this page has its own entrance to the park: the only lodging on the property is Worlds of Fun Village, a campground with cottages. Since April 2026 both parks have been run by Enchanted Parks for their new owner, EPR Properties; the names stay, and Six Flags season passes were honored through the 2026 season.

- Every Worlds of Fun ticket and season pass includes Oceans of Fun on the same day, so there is no separate water park ticket to buy.
- Five hotels in Kansas City Northeast stand within 2 km of the gates; the Comfort Inn & Suites is under a mile away and has a heated pool.
- Eight of the 29 hotels offer family suites, most of them in Liberty and North Kansas City.
- Four kids' zones: Crocodile Isle sprayground, Coconut Cove children's pool, the Captain Kidd's pirate ship and the 4,200 sq ft Splash Island.
- Riptide Raceway, the newest slide, is a record-billed mat racer, and Hurricane Falls sends up to four riders down a 680-foot flume from 72 feet.

Local tips
- ✓Ask for a re-entry voucher at the turnstile before leaving for a midday nap at a Northeast hotel: without it, you are not let back in the same day.
- ✓Check swimsuits before packing: metal rivets, zippers or snaps keep riders off Predators' Plunge and Typhoon, and cut-offs or cargo shorts are refused.
- ✓Water park lockers are separate from Worlds of Fun lockers and are emptied every night, so take everything back to the hotel at closing time.
- ✓Agree on Bender Surf Shop as the meeting point with the kids: public address announcements cannot be heard inside the water park.
- ✓Borrow a life jacket from the park for weaker swimmers; your own is allowed only if it is US Coast Guard approved, and some rides require one below a set height.
- ✓Open the official calendar before booking a September stay: after Labor Day the water park runs far fewer days than Worlds of Fun next door.
- ✓Grandparents or adult groups can retreat to the Flamingo Beach Club, an area kept for guests aged 21 and over, with its own bar.
Where to stay
FAQ
Which hotels are closest to Oceans of Fun?
The Kansas City Northeast cluster. Comfort Inn & Suites Kansas City - Northeast is under a mile from Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun, and the Super 8 by Wyndham, Holiday Inn Kansas City Northeast, Candlewood Suites Kansas City Northeast and SpringHill Suites Kansas City Northeast are 1.7 to 1.9 km away. No hotel is connected to the park; the only lodging on the property is the Worlds of Fun Village campground and its cottages.
Is Oceans of Fun included with a Worlds of Fun ticket?
Yes. The park's own FAQ says a ticket gives unlimited use of the rides and attractions of both Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun on the day of the visit, across 235 acres, and season passes cover both parks. Hotel packages are another matter: the Stay 'N Play add-on is sold only to Worlds of Fun Village guests, and only its unlimited version mentions Oceans of Fun.
When is Oceans of Fun open?
It is an outdoor water park with a summer season only. The 2026 season opened on May 23; after Labor Day it opens on fewer days with shorter hours, and by late September the official calendar showed the water park closed while Worlds of Fun ran Halloween Haunt. Storms can also shut the slides and the wave pool early. The 2027 dates were not yet published in October 2026.
Is Oceans of Fun good for toddlers?
Yes, it has four children's areas: Coconut Cove, a children's pool with geysers and a mushroom rain umbrella; Crocodile Isle, a sprayground with small slides and a 2,000 sq ft pool; Captain Kidd's pirate ship with slides and water cannons; and Splash Island, a 4,200 sq ft play area. Swim diapers are required, the park lends life jackets, and some rides require one below a set height.
Who owns Oceans of Fun now?
Six Flags sold Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun to EPR Properties, a Kansas City real estate trust, in a deal announced on March 5, 2026 and closed in April. Enchanted Parks runs both parks day to day. The names stay the same, Six Flags said season passes already sold would be honored through the 2026 season, and tickets are now sold on worldsoffun.enchantedparks.com.
Where should families with young children stay near Oceans of Fun?
I would decide by age. With children who still nap, the Northeast hotels within 2 km make a midday return realistic, as long as you take a re-entry voucher at the turnstile. With older children doing a full day, the Liberty suite hotels such as Home2 Suites, TownePlace Suites or Hampton Inn Kansas City Liberty give more room for the evening, 11 to 15 km away. Eight hotels on this page offer family suites.
