Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites North Kansas City by IHG
Budget suites with an 8 km drive to the park
About this hotel
This Holiday Inn Express sits in North Kansas City, roughly 8 km from Worlds of Fun and close to T-Mobile Center, the Kansas City Convention Center and Union Station, offering a spa-wellness pool circuit and free parking at a lower rating tier than several nearby chains. It suits a family prioritizing a lower cost and a reasonably short park commute over a higher room finish, with the downtown proximity as a useful bonus for a mixed park-and-city trip. The 2-star rating keeps expectations realistic: a functional, well-located room in Kansas City rather than a boutique stay, which is exactly what most families booking a water-park-focused trip are actually looking for. Guests scoring it 8.6 out of 10 across 147 reviews back that up.

Our take
This suits budget-focused families wanting a manageable roughly 8 km drive to Worlds of Fun without paying for a higher-rated room. The 2-star finish is more basic than the 3- and 4-star properties nearby, a fair trade for the lower cost and the downtown-adjacent location. It is not the right pick for every priority on this page, but for what it does offer, the spa-wellness pool circuit in Kansas City, it delivers reliably.
- ✓Compare this property's current rate against nearby 3-star chains before booking, since the price gap can be worth the trade-off either way.
- ✓Confirm free parking at booking, tagged here alongside the wellness amenities, especially during school-holiday weeks when rooms sell out fastest.
- ✓Use the North Kansas City location for an easy downtown stop alongside the roughly 8 km drive to the park.
