About this hotel

Families basing themselves at the Changgwansan Hotel for a slides-packed break will find themselves a short taxi ride from Munsu Water Park. This means a quick hop to the aquatic action, allowing for full days of splashing without a long commute. While the hotel doesn't have its own water features, it serves as a convenient and restful retreat. Toddlers can enjoy the park's dedicated splash areas, while tweens and teens will appreciate the larger slides and wave pools. Our take

This hotel is best suited for families who prioritize proximity to Munsu Water Park and prefer a straightforward, comfortable place to sleep after a day of intense water play. It's ideal for those who don't need on-site water park amenities and are happy to commute a short distance to the main attraction. Families with very young children might find the lack of on-site play areas a drawback, but for those with older kids eager for slides, it's a practical choice. Those seeking a resort experience with integrated water features should look elsewhere.

  • Plan your water park days in advance, as the hotel is a short taxi ride away; factor in travel time for early entry to beat the crowds.
  • Book your stay well before school holidays to secure better rates and availability, especially if you're traveling with a larger family.
  • Consider packing snacks and drinks for your park visits, as the hotel provides a convenient base for quick returns and relaxation.

Why guests love it

Our operator put us in the Changgwangsan Hotel for our Pyongyang nights, one of the more central options on this list, right on Chollima Street near the indoor stadium and ice rink. Two towers, eighteen floors each, and the lobby has clearly been touched up more recently than the rooms, which still carry a 1970s feel. We barely saw another foreign guest during our stay, which our guide said is normal here. The balcony views over the street were the best part of the room.
